Candidates Module - Support Staff

This module is for use by individuals seeking employment in Alberta schools in positions OTHER THAN teaching and administration.

Individuals employed in the support staff category provide a wide variety of tasks in support of the teaching learning process in a variety of areas - building custodial, maintenance and security functions; clerical/secretarial positions; library services; teacher and/or student assistants; student transportation - at both the school and system level.

Applying for positions
Using DISTRICT OFFICE online is easy and straight-forward. All that is required is a computer that is linked to the Internet. The deign will allow even the computer novice to complete the process with comparative ease.
STEP 1: Review the list of available positions in member school jurisdictions. All positions are listed on both the school jurisdiction website and the “DO it online” website.
STEP 2: Use the “APPLY” button included in all “DO it online” job postings to access the electronic Support Staff Application Form (e-form). Complete and submit the application form to the database.
STEP 3: Enhance your application by uploading a variety of supporting documents - resume, cover letter, letters of reference, etc.
STEP 4: Select your membership option. BASIC - a new application form and documents for each job posting - or PROFESSIONAL - your data (and documents) can be used for multiple applications. Professional membership requires payment of an annual membership fee ($11.81). More information on Professional membership can be found in the “Members Services” section of the HELP MENU.
Your data is encrypted during transmission and stored in the secure DISTRICT OFFICE online database from which it is accessed by authorized personnel in the school authority to which you have applied.

Updating your file One of the great advantages of an electronic file is the ease with which changes can be made. You can make corrections and/or update the contents of your file (application form and documents) to reflect new information. Simply insert your username and password in the spaced provided in the “Candidate Login” frame on the left, then use the links (buttons) provided in your Candidate's Menu.
